A New Gaga-game to Play

by YourOtherLeft News

Whether you like or dislike Lady Gaga… there’s one thing all can agree on…she’s always surprising.

This week, Lady Gaga made some surprising news. First, she appeared on American Idol as a “Musical mentor” to the final contestants.

Next she joined the world of online gaming. Zynga (the people who brought you FarmVille) announced an upcoming partnership with the eccentric performer.

Soon, players of the popular FarmVille, a game available to Facebook users, will have access to a new territory, GagaVille.

“GagaVille” will be short-lived. Zynga says it’s running the special only until May 26 to celebrate the debut of “Born This Way.” The company wouldn’t say whether Lady Gaga picked “FarmVille” to debut her songs or if Zynga concocted this unusual promotion, which will feature magical unicorns, sheep on motorcycles and other Gaga-inspired items on “GagaVille.”

The unlikely duo is sure to raise eyebrows, but certainly no higher than any of the pop star’s unusual outfits.

If you are interested in the contemporary music scene, this week’s Grammy Awards ceremony was a feast.

It had mega-performances (eggs! sparkles! muppets! fire!) with a few awards sprinkled in. The television viewing audience was apparently pleased, awarding the show its highest ratings in seven years!

But even with all of that popularity, the popular kids (recording industry darlings) didn’t necessarily go home winners on Sunday night.

Two categories really shook the Grammys audience to the core. First, Justin Bieber, the almighty, did not win Best New Artist!

That field was crowded with some great artists and some indie favorites, but the win by Esperanza Spalding has this ashamed music lover scurrying to Wikipedia. Little did I know, the Bieber fans had beat me to the punch, and kind of trashed the place.

And then the Grammys plot thickened when the BIG AWARD of the night was announced: Album of the Year. Up against the likes of Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Lady Antebellum, the indie critic favorite Arcade Fire (of Montreal) just kind of swooped in and surprised everyone (even announcer Barbra Streisand) by winning for their album “The Suburbs.”

And then, the Internets exploded with the question: WHO?

It didn’t take long for the [super-cool] blogging service Tumblr to find a space for a Who Is Arcade Fire? blog, devoted entirely to tweets, Facebook posts, and other irreverent, angry, or confused people just wanting to know who just won the Grammys top honor.

But, the show ended, and that was that.

Except, there was one more really cool thing that happened! Cee-Lo Green performed that popular hit (The Song Otherwise Known As ‘Forget You’), but to spice things up, he played a really glitzy piano and wore feathers and sparkles, and then duet-ed a bit with Gwyneth Paltrow.

There were actually a number of entertaining performances that night (see New York Magazine count them down so you know which ones to YouTube) but I can’t in good conscience not post the video. So, enjoy!

See a full list of Grammy nominees and winners here and let us know if you’re OK with Justin Bieber going home disappointed or if you appreciated Lady Gaga’s sp-EGG-tacular entrance!

Gaga Brings the Meat!

by ForeverPlaid News

Did you catch the VMAs (that’s “Video Music Awards” for all of you non-pop-culture worshippers) Sunday night? Well, even if you didn’t, you might have heard some buzz about the always-exciting Lady Gaga. [Full disclosure: The author is a HUGE fan of the Lady. Like, seriously guys.]

Though she looked fab all night, by far the most talked-about outfit she wore was the now ubiquitous MEAT DRESS.

Now, with Gaga, things aren’t just over-the-top for the sake of being over-the-top. Lady Gaga explained the meaning of the meat dress on Ellen (watch a clip here!):

It has many interpretations. But for me, this evening, it’s as if we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.

Adding,

AND… I am not a piece of meat. …read more.

What’zup today??

by ForeverPlaid News, Whatzup

Now, theres a sight we could get used to. (Thanks to the NY Daily News.)

Now, there's a sight we could get used to. (Thanks to the NY Daily News.)

The NYT insist that Larry King will need a replacement soon. LET IT BE LADY GAGA. OH PLEASE, LET IT BE LADY GAGA.

When I am old, I would be happy to be comforted by a robot seal. (As long as there’s some occasional human interaction…)

And here’s ANOTHER thing that’ll make you fat. As if we needed more of those.

Seen here dressed in medical tubing, and holding a spiky star/weapon (we really don’t know…), Lady Gaga proves to everyone just how weird original she is when she is off her meds. Tell us what she is thinking… assuming that she is thinking…
