It’s winter, which means it’s cold season here for the USDemocrazy staff.  We’re sniffling and sneezing up a storm, and have tried every health alternative: chicken noodle soup, bed rest (probably our favorite), child sacrifice, using hand sanitizer….

Wait, what?!

Yes, as crazy as it sounds in some countries around the world, child sacrifice is seen as a cure to diseases!  Most of these countries are poor and have inadequate hospitals and doctors.  There isn’t enough medicine, and people don’t have the money for medicine anyway.

Or for chicken noodle soup.

So what’s the next best solution?  Well, anthropology studies have shown that people will go to a hospital if they have the funds, but will go to a witch doctor, which are usually cheaper, if they don’t have the money for a hospital.

Never seen a real witch doctor?

Just go to Uganda, where one man claimed that in his past, as a practicing witch doctor, he killed more than 70 children for sacrifices for medicines and health, including his own son…

Why would anyone lie about that?!

Haiti is Hit Yet Again…

Haiti’s having a pretty hard time right now, since the massive earthquake earlier this month.

Fortunately, a lot of good people from around the world are trying to help… with food, money, kidnapping… KIDNAPPING?!?!

Ten U.S. Baptist missionaries were charged with kidnapping 33 Haitian children and trying to take them across the Haitian border to the Dominican Republic.

The Haitian Prime Minister, Max Bellerive, states,

It is clear now that they were trying to cross the border without papers.  It is clear now that some of the children have live parents… And it is clear now, that they knew what they were doing was wrong.

According to ABC News, children were drawn to follow the missionaries with pictures – pamphlets, actually – that showed pools, large houses, and clothes.
