Yum. That was our first thought when we saw this picture and it’s easy to see why. The bright colors of the different fruit give this photo a crisp, summery feel that instantly puts a smile on your face and maybe a rumble in your stomach. Er… maybe that last part just applies to us!

By now, most of you have heard about the awful flooding in Pakistan. The U.S. Army is in Pakistan, spreading aid to victims of the flood. The soldier above, Sgt. Paul Gilman, overlooks the flood ravaged terrain of Pakistan. This beautiful photograph captures a bird’s eye view of the land, one that shows the destruction juxtaposed with the beauty of the faraway mountains.

It’s the second week of August. This means three things.
1. Summer is almost over.
2. School is going to start soon.
3. SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER!
To keep the spirit of summer going, this week’s featured photo is a gorgeous one of a woman and child at the beach. We love how the people aren’t in focus, giving it a somewhat nostalgic, dreamy quality that Polaroids are known for. But since Polaroid isn’t manufactured anymore, it’s actually a Poladroid, a web application that turns digital photos into old school Polaroids. It’s a great little tool and takes the image from a snapshot to a photo.

During the summer, hanging out by the water is a must. While you’re there, you might see one of these beauties! We can’t promise you that your photos will turn out as awesome as this one, with the dragonfly’s fragile wings appearing so translucent and the beautiful bokeh in the background. Enjoying it in person will probably be just as good!

If you’ve been living on the East Coast, you know how hot it’s been. The sun is beating down on us, but just looking at this photo makes us feel better. The refreshing waterfall looks like it’s about to stream out of the photo, which would be perfect.

This photo was taken in… wait for it… DENMARK. The beautiful blue colors in it make me want to take a vacation right now. I think tourism in Denmark is going to spike after people see this picture. Next, the country needs to come out with a cool video, like Iceland.

Yes, photography is beautiful and inspiring and heart-warming. But it’s also FUN! I love that the photographer injected this photo with so much personality by just drawing a couple of lines. Plus, this is a great excuse to play with your food!

Whoa.
I bet that’s what you were thinking when you saw the photo above. At least, that was my reaction. This photograph is aptly named Hover Dog and is a great capture. Now, if you’ll excuse me, this photo makes me want to grab a camera and start shooting!

Most photos of dandelions are fun and summery, featuring bright colors like blue and green. This beautiful photo, however, is the first I’ve seen to give dandelions an air of elegance. The lone dandelion that is silhouetted by the warm tones gives a new dimension to pictures of dandelions and the little seed falling off adds to the perfect timing of the shot.
And… we have a consensus: an onion has never looked so good. The warm feeling, the black vignette and the closeup of the texture of the onion makes this picture stunning. This photo almost makes me want to cook something. Or I could order some onion rings. Yeah, I’ll go with the latter.

Dandelions are fun! In other news, U.S. Democrazy staff are easily entertained! This photo captures what we’ve been doing for the past week, and captures it quite well. We probably don’t look as graceful as the woman in the photograph, but check out the size of her dandelion!

We want to take a picture of this every time we’re at a subway station. Looking at this picture, with its beautiful light trails, is just as good though. What do you guys think?

Who says photos have to be about people or nature? No one, that’s who! We love this funny picture made from Legos. If you want to see some more photos like this one, Flickr has a whole collection of pictures featuring toys.
