We here at USDemocrazy are constantly looking for interesting ways to keep you misinformed. So, with you in mind we are introducing this week a special new segment for your entertainment pleasure!
This brand new segment is a weekly news roundup that we are going to call… (okay, we don’t have a name yet, but we’re taking suggestions).
From the the funny to the quirky, from the serious to the sad, our new segment will be a USDemocrazy wrap up of the week’s news.(Paper or plastic?)
Let’s start…
- First, big news from Chile this week. As you no doubt have heard the country was hit by a massive earthquake which has devastated the area. The 8.8 magnitude quake, a much larger one than Haiti experienced, has killed over 700 people so far.
If you are feeling generous, you can donate to organizations who are trying to provide relief.
-There’s no doubt that Ronald Reagan is the GOP’s poster boy guy. Now there is a move to put him on the 50 dollar bill. As we have noted, there has already been a comic made out of him.
Rep. Patrick McHenry introduced a bill earlier this week to bump President Grant from his $50 perch in favor of Reagan. It may seem kind of silly to you but hey, President Cleveland got on the thousand dollar bill. What did he do?
- Do you believe in conspiracies? You didn’t hear it from us but… an elaborate takeover is playing out in the state of New York.
Remember Elliot Spitzer? He’s the former NY governor who resigned after a sex scandal shamed him out of office. Now his Madam, Kristin Davis, (the woman who supplied Spitzer with call girls) is running for Spitzer’s old governorship.
Now, we’re not suggesting she supplied him call girls then got him busted in some crazy scheme to win the Governor’s office . . . but, then again they say anything is possible in New York…
- We wish we could say we were making this up but last week a man serving three consecutive life sentences was mistakenly let out of jail in downtown Baltimore.
Authorities are not quite sure how Raymond Taylor was released. It is likely an identification mishap that allowed Taylor to walk in the place of another inmate who was scheduled to be freed that day.
Taylor was apprehended last weekend in West Virginia. Authorities are still embarrassed. But this does prove there is such a thing as a get out of jail free card.
-Finally, Sarah Palin is breaking into comedy. That’s right she’s done politics, she’s done book writing (kinda) and now she’s into stand up. That kind of behavior is usually reserved for drama ridden high school seniors who don’t know what to do with their lives. But she’s got some chops.

The laughs Palin gets will show who is with her and who isn’t, depending on whether they laugh WITH her or AT her. My vote is to just ignore her and cook the tomatoes.
