We at USDemocrazy are not good at much. But one thing we are good at is… screwing up. In fact we are rather experts on the subject.
So, we are naturally drawn to news of other people’s screw-ups… to see how our competition is faring.
Today we’ve found some good ones.
First, there’s the air traffic controller who thought it would be cool to let his little boy sit in his chair at work and direct some airplanes. (We’re not so much upset over this as we are jealous.)
In the recording, a child can be heard saying, ‘JetBlue 171, cleared for takeoff.’ A man is then heard telling the plane, ‘Here’s what you get, guys, when the kids are out of school.’
The FAA is pretty upset over this, but some pilots don’t seem to think it’s a huge deal.
The kid cleared two airplanes. It was very controlled, and I don’t think safety was compromised, nor should anyone be disciplined for this.
That’s a quote from from a pilot, who noted that nothing really happened as a result of the kid stepping into his dad’s shoes. For the full (and kind of wacky) story, watch the video from ABC above.
Since that dad may be spending more time at home with his kids now, maybe he’ll invest in one of these…
And then there’s a famous golfer and a confused Congressman…
You might be familiar with a certain Tiger Woods and the controversy he’s been caught up in for months now. Well, he recently made a public apology and vowed to go to rehabilitation so he can get his life back on track. Now Mr. Woods has found a little encouragement in a certain former president of the U.S.A.:
Bill Clinton offered his support to Tiger Woods in a phone call with the embattled golf star, a spokesman for the former president confirms.
Hmm… What do you think they talked about? How to not get involved in more controversy?
Recently we’ve had “Another Dem Bites the Dust” stuck on repeat. This week’s Dem-dust-biter is New York Democratic congressman and chair of the House Ways and Means committee Charles Rangel. It seems Mr. Rangel had accepted some free trips to the Caribbean, which apparently you shouldn’t do. (FYI — the USDemocrazy team is not subject to such stringent ethics rules, hint, hint.)

Thanks to The Daily Beast!
Mr. Rangel didn’t exactly apologize, but decided to step down instead of making his Democratic pals defend him when they’re already in a troubling election cycle…
OK — now it’s your turn. Leave a comment and let us know if you think these scandals are worthy of all the press they’re getting!

[...] we at USDemocrazy have explored the Democrats’ problems before and have an understanding of scandals (blogging about them, not participating), the big one that broke this week about former New York [...]
