Whenever we here at USDemocrazy are bored or depressed we try to make ourselves laugh.
This includes pranks, clowns tricks and watching funny videos. The videos that never fail to lift our spirits are those of our cartoon friends Wile E.Coyote and the Road Runner.
For the uninitiated, Wile E.Coyote and the Road Runner are classic Warner Brothers cartoon characters (see the clip above) whose antics are the pinnacle of slapstick comedy.
Wile E. Coyote employs endless gadgets and traps to catch the speedy Road Runner. No matter how hard he tries, or diabolical he gets, his plans always backfire, leaving the poor Coyote scorched, crushed, frustrated but determined to try again.
Which, if you think about it, is a little bit like the Democratic party in Washington today!
First, the coyote is armed with an arsenal of weapons (courtesy of ACME). Likewise, the Democrats have the White House, a forty seat majority in the House, and previously a twenty seat majority in the senate.
But just like the lovable lunatic Coyote, the Dems have proven to be their own worst enemy.
In his endless campaign to catch the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote is defeated by his own accident-prone ineptitude. He runs into walls, pulls rocks on his heads, falls off cliffs, and gets blown up with his own TNT.
Likewise, the Dems are trying to catch their own road runner – health care reform. In their desperate pursuit, they are loosing Senate seats, seeing their support plummet off a cliff, and brawling within their own party.
It’s a comedy of errors… where the Republicans are laughing.
Will the Democrats recover from their present predictable predicament?
Wile E. Coyote is ever hopeful of a brighter future… as are some in the Democratic party.
Perhaps this cartoon-like crisis will motivate the Democrats. Maybe it will spark important changes… like changing the party mascot from a donkey to a coyote.
This is the absolute best analysis of the Democrats I have ever read! Fantastic! If you can find the cartoon equivalent of the Republicans, I would love, love, LOVE IT!

Very nice analogy. Say what you will about Wile E. Coyote, you have to love him for his energy, his determination, and especially his creativity. Say what you will about the Democrats, at least they’ve shown plenty of the three above attributes. At least the president didn’t go play golf or read picture books upside down.
