We here at USDemocrazy love water. We drink it, we shower with it, we have hose fights in the hallway with it (our editors can’t figure why we wear wetsuits to work…)
But, do we citizens ever really think about water?
We should! After all… some folks believe that some of our water may be…well, watered down!
This curious graphic from OnlineEducation.net raises questions about the bottled water in our nation.
The image claims that 40% of bottled water comes from, well, tap water sources. Do you feel like you are getting soaked?
Even more, The graphic suggests 22% of bottled water is less clean than tap water. Bottled water can still be bottled when it has not been tested for e-coli and does not live up to tap water standards.
If you need more proof, check out the documentary Flow – For Love of Water, documenting how bottled water is taken from poor countries to be sold in the United States. Meaning, fresh drinking water for the desperately poor is unavailable so that Americans can buy $2 bottles of brand name water.
Feeling thirsty yet?
