Beer summit one
The writing staff here at USDemocrazy have brains like sieves. We have a hard enough time recalling what we ate for breakfast (nevermind remembering our deadlines).
But even we could remember the national uproar that followed the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Gates. (Do you remember?)
To quell the controversy, President Obama invited Gates and Crowley (the arresting officer) to enjoy a beer at the White House.
Apparently the two became great drinking buddies. They were seen Wednesday, at a non-White House location, drinking their differences away yet again.

Yeah — they drank “Bud.”
They didn’t actually, only Obama did. Crowley had a Blue Moon and Gates drank Sam Adams Light.
I believe this was a ridculous publicity stunt. They could have had a nice dinner or lunch instead of a beer. What a shame that it had to be focused around alcohol, and such a public event!
Joe Biden to balance to balance it out.
Shut up Andrew. Alcohol is just as much a food as water or sprite is. Stop complaining.
At least they can all get together and have a beer without going at it. On the topic of publicity, I think having dinner/lunch would have been too formal (as if they were forced to meet). But a couple of guys havin’ a beer together = what good American friends do.
Maybe it was all planned in advance to:
a)drink w/ President
and
b)eventually get a TV show deal out of it
If part b happens, they will have accomplished two of my life goals.
side note for those who care: VP Biden had a Bucklers at BS1. Also, VP Biden wasn’t there for BSdeux.
[...] What was this meeting about (clearly not another friendly beer summit)? [...]
