We here at USDemocrazy are hearing a lot about Afghanistan these days with “elections” this and “military strategy” that. It’s all a bit confusing.
But we found, in this article by Thomas E. Ricks at the Daily Beast, contained some clear insight
Ricks says that President Obama should be thinking less of the history lessons of Vietnam and instead take a good hard look at the war policies of good ol’ FDR.
I find myself thinking that President Obama, for all his love of Abraham Lincoln, might benefit by turning from that son of Illinois to a New Yorker who was a more recent war president, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
This article is a nifty read, if any of you are history buffs like we are. It’s always neat to look to yesterday for tomorrow’s solutions (like where we left our car keys or remote control).
So what do you think of Rick’s article?
