We at USDemocrazy often have trouble with our words (unfortunately so do our editors). We mangle, muddle and missspell misspell our metaphors.
So we were thrilled to find a public figure who shares our inadequacies.
Republican National Committee Chairman Micheal Steele proclaimed boldly on Wednesday that he was the cow on the tracks, and the health care reform train was going to have to stop for him.
Bold move.
Not surprisingly, Steele is catching some bovine blow back from his comment:
Josh marshal of TMP said
Steele is apparently unschooled on the history of train/cow confrontations.
You see, if Mr Steele had watched more westerns he may have noticed there is a big scoop on the front of those early locomotives that gives them their classic look.
The name for that classic scoop?… a cow-catcher.
We guess Mr Steele can be forgiven for his madly mangled metaphor. After all he is as he is not alone in this field. Yogi Berra leads the league in verbal gaffs.
He was once quoted as saying
Even Napoleon had his Watergate.
And at last week’s USDemocrazy “team bonding” picnic our esteemed editor was was overheard saying
The next person who steals my chips better watch out… cause I float like a bee and sting like a butterfly.
So Mr Steele is in good company.
If you have heard, read, or seen any good word mash-ups, please send them our way!
