HEY! Lay off the pigs.

NEWS FLASH!!! The Swine Flu has been ERADICATED!!!

That’s right, thanks to “brave” bloggers like USDemocrazy (and maybe with a little help from the World Health Organization [WHO]), the term Swine Flu will not be heard again!

Instead, the WHO will call that strain of flu by its scientific name H1N1 influenza A. (All right, maybe we exaggerated bit in the paragraph above.)

So why the name change?  Well, it seems that it’s bad for marketing (and the pigs’ self esteem).  Pork producers are finding drops in demand for pork.

The name is also not that accurate. According to the United Nations Food Agency, the flu cannot be transferred by pig meat, and in fact might not even be carried by pigs.

Does this mean our porker pals are off the hook?  Not quite.

Recently Egypt’s government decided to kill 350,000 pigs hoping to stave of the Swine Flu H1N1 influenza A.  Russia banned the import of American pork.

On a closing note, Swine Flu H1N1 influenza A may not be the end-of-times pandemic people have feared. Scientists believe that H1N1 is a relatively mild flu.

Although people have died from H1N1, remember that the regular flu claims 36,000 lives in America yearly.

So calm down and hug a pig.

    Swine Flus Symptoms:

    1) Paranoia

    2) Hypochondria

I found this interesting article about Joe Biden and flu fears.

  3. Guild3nstern says:

Thank God. The paranoia is what made me not give one iota of thought to the possiblity of worrying about this latest biological and media virus. Props to the media and bloggers worldwide for scaring the general public and some governments into submissions yet again. u.u

  4. Billy says:

@Ros3ncrantz – Good point, although as the economist pointed out, it is important to catch a viral infection early on before it has time to mutate into a real killer. Public paranoia is not really warranted now, but we should be preparing vaccines now to avoid the true need for paranoia down the road.

  7. Phil says:

Yup. No flu. Even though they tried to start one at Fort Dix (FD dug up bodies with the 1918 flu and H1N1 has one of the genes from the 1918 flu). Hum?! Isn’t Fort Dix the place where they brewed the Anthrax that got sent to Congress (while Bush was on Cipro!)? The same Fort Dix. Hmmmmm. . . . . AIDS, Ebola . . . . Naaaaa. . . . . . Why would they do such a thing?! We all know the Amerikkkan military just kills brown people . . . who have stolen our oil!

Say Something!
